Liverpool welcome Florian Wirtz back into contention for the FA Cup fifth round clash with Wolves at Molineux Stadium. The attacking midfielder has been sidelined since the 3-0 victory over Brighton in the previous round nearly a month ago.

Wirtz was poised to start against Nottingham Forest but pulled out during the warm-up after not feeling fully fit. He has missed the subsequent three matches, including the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Wolves on Tuesday.

Slot Provides Positive Update on Wirtz

Manager Arne Slot offered encouraging news during the pre-match press conference. “He trained half and half yesterday with the team,” Slot stated. “What I mean with that is he was a ‘joker’, you say over here I think, so he made the next step in his rehab. So, let’s see where he is today and if he then could be available for a few – a few – minutes tomorrow, in the best scenario.”

With Wirtz likely limited to a substitute role, Dominik Szoboszlai should retain his position as the No. 10 behind Hugo Ekitike. Several changes appear on the cards elsewhere in the lineup.

Potential Lineup Shifts

Rio Ngumoha caught the eye as a substitute on Tuesday, fueling demands for the young talent to earn a start over Cody Gakpo or Mohamed Salah. Alisson Becker may rest ahead of next week’s Champions League last-16 first leg against Galatasaray, paving the way for Giorgi Mamardashvili’s first appearance since the third-round win over Barnsley.

Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, and Curtis Jones vie for inclusion, but limited central defensive depth suggests Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk will hold their spots.
