Ospreys wing Daniel Kasende will sit out the remainder of the current season after receiving a red card in the United Rugby Championship (URC) clash against Cardiff.
Incident Details
Kasende earned a 20-minute red card for leading with his forearm while carrying the ball, which struck Cardiff fly-half Callum Sheedy during the first half. Ospreys fell to a narrow 24-21 defeat in that match.
Disciplinary Outcome
At the disciplinary hearing, the 30-year-old South African player acknowledged committing foul play that justified the red card. Officials initially imposed a six-match suspension, reduced to three matches due to his prompt apology, acceptance of the sanction, and overall good conduct. However, one additional match was added because of his prior disciplinary history, resulting in a total four-match ban.
Matches Missed
With Ospreys eliminated from URC play-off contention, Kasende will miss the team’s final two games this season: a home fixture against Scarlets on Saturday, May 9, in Bridgend, followed by an away trip to Leinster a week later. The ban also covers two pre-season matches in the upcoming campaign.
