Rugby League Player Celebrates Major Personal and Professional Milestones
Queensland front rower Lindsay Collins has announced the birth of his second child, a daughter named Phoebe Christine. The joyful news emerged just hours after Collins played a pivotal role in Queensland’s dominant 44-24 victory over New South Wales in the State of Origin series.
Collins, 30, and his wife Taylah shared the announcement on Instagram, revealing their new family of four. Their first child, a daughter named Georgia Marie, was born on June 10, 2024. Phoebe Christine arrived exactly two years and one day after her elder sister.
The couple’s social media post read, “Our girl, Phoebe Christine Collins is here. Born two years and a day after her big sister, we’re all so in love with our two little girls.” The announcement was accompanied by several photographs of the newborn and the family.
Collins’ Performance in State of Origin II
The decision was made not to publicize the impending birth before the State of Origin II match. Instead, the couple chose to share their happy news the morning after the game. Collins, a 17-time Queensland representative, delivered a standout performance in the crucial match, contributing significantly to his state’s series-leveling win.
During the game, Collins scored a try and gained 78 meters, playing a key role in Queensland’s comeback. The team rallied from an early 2-12 deficit at the MCG, ultimately securing a decisive victory with six tries in the second half under coach Billy Slater.
Looking Ahead
The loss places significant pressure on New South Wales coach Laurie Daley as the series heads to Origin III at Suncorp Stadium. This defeat marked Daley’s 11th as coach, and his most substantial since the 2015 decider.
Collins is now expected to rejoin his club team, the Sydney Roosters, for their upcoming match against the Cronulla Sharks on Sunday night, potentially bringing renewed energy following these significant personal and professional achievements.
