New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch acknowledges a past acquaintance with Jeffrey Epstein but firmly denies ever visiting his private island, following the release of extensive documents where his name appears over 400 times.
Tisch’s Statement on Association
In a statement from the NFL team, Tisch explains that their interaction was limited. “We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy and investments,” he says. “I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.”
Details from Released Documents
Emails included in the 3 million pages of files show Epstein introducing Tisch to several women. At 76 years old, Tisch faces no criminal charges related to the Epstein investigation.
Background on Steve Tisch
Tisch earned an Academy Award in 1994 for producing the film Forrest Gump. He serves as chairman and executive vice president of the Giants, a role he has held since his father, Preston Tisch, acquired a 50% stake in the team from the Mara family in 1991.
Context of the Document Release
The files emerged under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a law passed amid significant public and political demands to disclose government records on the late financier and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail cell in August 2019, shortly after his federal indictment on sex trafficking charges.
