The 21-year-old truck driver arrested after a fiery crash killed three individuals on the ten Freeway in Ontario was not underneath the affect of medicine on the time, authorities say.

Jashanpreet Singh of Yuba Metropolis was arrested on suspicion of DUI and initially confronted a felony cost of gross vehicular manslaughter whereas intoxicated and a felony cost of driving underneath the affect of medicine inflicting harm.

His case drew nationwide headlines after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers claimed Singh was an undocumented immigrant who entered the nation from the southern border.

Weeks after Singh’s arrest, prosecutors amended their grievance to mirror that the suspected DUI allegation couldn’t be proved.

“Toxicology stories confirmed not one of the substances examined have been current within the defendant’s blood on the time the check was rendered,” the San Bernardino County district lawyer stated in a current assertion. Within the amended grievance, Singh is charged with three counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one rely of reckless driving inflicting a specified harm.

Within the collision, which came about round 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 21, Singh allegedly didn’t hit his brakes as site visitors was slowing, leading to an eight-vehicle pileup, in response to a California Freeway Patrol spokesperson. The huge crash concerned 4 large rigs and 4 passenger automobiles.
