The 75-year-old spouse of a former Republican North Carolina senator had a daunting begin to her week when she found an escaped inmate hiding within the backseat of her automobile, based on native studies.
Marie Steinburg, married to ex-State Senator Bob Steinberg, left her Edenton residence for work round 7:30 a.m. Monday when she unlocked her Honda Civic and located 23-year-old accused thief Charles Babb cowering within the backseat, with a blanket wrapped round his orange jail jumpsuit.
