Cooper Mitchell Bamberry, the son of a Queensland magistrate, faces trial in District Court on 129 serious charges, including multiple counts of rape and child sexual abuse offenses.
Committal Hearing Details
During a committal hearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court, Deputy Chief Magistrate Stephen Courtney ordered Bamberry to stand trial at a later date. The 22-year-old Helensvale resident, who appeared in custody wearing a suit, was represented by lawyer Adam Guest. When asked if he had anything to say, Bamberry responded, “No, thank you, your honour.” He remains remanded in custody.
A witness provided evidence in closed court from a remote room. The court confirmed the witness was not an affected child.
Scope of Charges
Prosecutors outlined 129 charges against Bamberry, including five counts of rape, sexual assault, carnal knowledge of children, involving a child in child exploitation material production, grooming, indecent treatment of children, additional sexual assaults, and unlawful stalking.
