Laundry chores never end, but a simple trick can cut down ironing time significantly. Adding ice cubes to the dryer creates steam that smooths out creases from washed clothes effortlessly.
How the Ice Cube Method Works
A laundry appliance specialist shared this quick fix with thousands of followers online. Toss wrinkled garments into the dryer along with a few ice cubes. As the dryer heats up, the ice melts into steam, relaxing fabrics and removing stubborn wrinkles for crisp results.
The specialist explained: “Here’s something I didn’t know until I worked at an appliance store. I never knew that a really easy way to remove wrinkles from your clothes in a hurry is to throw them into the dryer with a couple of ice cubes. The dryer will melt those ice cubes and produce steam, which will help iron out any of those wrinkles in your clothes to make sure that your clothes are nice and crisp.”
Feedback and Alternative Approaches
Many people praised the hack for simplifying their routines. User Suga-Ray commented: “Bless you Sir, I hate ironing.”
Others suggested similar methods using less ice. Roy Haeger noted: “Ice cubes?! Nah, just dampen something in the load a little bit. No need for ice cubes, and that’s what they do anyway.” Jeramy With An A added: “Damp washcloth is what I’ve always used.”
The Angry Viking US recommended: “I use a spray bottle of water. Couple sprays and into dryer.” Shalo_Kirby shared: “I wet the clothes just a tad and throw em in.”
Some highlighted built-in dryer features. Miku pointed out: “I use a steam program for it. Or, use dryer settings that has [an] iron logo on it.”
