Celine Dion maintains a low profile in her Henderson, Nevada home, but a decade ago, she parted with one of her most stunning properties under heartbreaking circumstances. In 2016, the iconic singer sold her grand Montreal mansion following the death of her husband, music producer René Angélil, at age 73.
Details of the Turnkey Montreal Chateau Sale
The sale included an unusual feature: numerous personal belongings remained inside, turning the property into a ready-to-occupy “turnkey” home. High-end furnishings, Persian rugs, linens, china, and glassware stayed behind for the new owner.
Priced at $25.5 million, the estate fetched that amount from an anonymous American buyer. Modeled after a French chateau, the home boasts six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and sits on a private island near Laval. Key highlights include a expansive entertaining kitchen, a wood-paneled library with a custom fireplace, and a secure high metal gate.
Additional luxuries elevate its appeal: a dedicated games room, wine cellar, state-of-the-art home gym, and serene water views.
Other Lavish Homes Dion Has Sold
The Montreal chateau was not the only extravagant residence Dion divested. In 2017, she offloaded her Florida villa at a reduced price. Listed initially in 2013 for $72.5 million, it dropped to $45.5 million by 2016 before selling for $38.5 million.
Spanning 11,000 square feet on Jupiter Island, the property features three swimming pools, a water park, lazy river, tennis court, golf simulator, movie theater, and 100 meters of private beach. These amenities kept her three sons—René-Charles, now 25, and twins Eddy and Nelson Angélil, now 15—entertained.
Soon after, Dion listed her Paris apartment in the prestigious Villa Montmorency neighborhood to focus on her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. Purchased with Angélil in 2008, the four-story residence offers five bedrooms and bathrooms.
