Authorities have resumed the search for four-year-old Gus Lamont, who vanished from his family’s remote property in South Australia nearly six months ago. Police descended on Oak Park Station on Wednesday, March 11, to scour multiple locations for evidence in the ongoing case.
Background of the Disappearance
Gus, known for his golden hair, was last seen on September 27, 2025, at the isolated Oak Park Station. Multiple large-scale operations have taken place across the property since his disappearance.
Recent Developments and Suspect Identification
Earlier this month, investigators identified a suspect believed to be known to the young boy. The case has escalated to a major crime investigation, though the suspect is not one of Gus’s parents.
Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke highlighted “discrepancies” and “inconsistencies” in statements from some family members. “As a result of these inconsistencies, and investigations into them, a person who resides at Oak Park Station has withdrawn their support for the police and is no longer co-operating with us,” Superintendent Fielke stated.
Officials confirmed plans to return to the property, which occurred on Wednesday.
Investigation Focus and Theories
Investigators do not believe Gus remains alive. The theory that he wandered off and became disoriented has been ruled out. Current lines of inquiry center on whether a stranger took him from the property or if someone familiar to him was involved in his disappearance and presumed death.
The probe now targets individuals acquainted with Gus as potential links to the case.
