Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein expresses support for Oscar winner Adrien Brody taking a fatherly role with his two children from his marriage to ex-wife Georgina Chapman.
Weinstein’s Current Situation
At 73, Weinstein serves a 16-year sentence at New York’s Rikers Island following a 2022 conviction on sex crime charges in California. He faces a third Manhattan trial later this year on a remaining rape charge after a 2025 retrial. Weinstein battles health issues including cancer, diabetes, spinal stenosis, and possible immune system problems. He denies all allegations of rape or sexual assault.
Family Background and Divorce
Weinstein and Chapman, 49, ended their 10-year marriage in 2017 amid sexual harassment and abuse allegations. Their divorce finalized in 2021. The couple shares daughter India Pearl, 15, and son Dashiell Max Robert, 12.
Brody’s Relationship and Role
Chapman began dating Brody, 52, in 2019 after meeting at an event in Puerto Rico. Over five years together, Brody has embraced a fatherly presence in the children’s lives while Weinstein remains incarcerated.
Last year, during his Best Actor Oscar acceptance speech for The Brutalist at the 2025 ceremony, Brody thanked Chapman and the children, revealing they call him ‘Popsy.’
‘I share this with my amazing partner Georgina, who has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth but my sense of value and my values and her beautiful children, Dash and India,’ Brody stated. ‘It’s been a rollercoaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life, and Popsy’s coming home a winner.’
Weinstein’s Reaction
In a recent interview, Weinstein states he feels happy about Brody’s involvement. ‘No! I was happy. It’s good that my kids have someone in their lives,’ he said when asked about Brody’s Oscars mention. ‘And Georgina suffered terribly because of me. I’m glad she’s finally found some happiness.’
Despite no direct communication with Chapman, Weinstein claims she permits visits with their children. He also addresses the backlash against Chapman’s fashion label Marchesa, where A-list actresses ceased wearing her designs post-allegations.
‘I am sorry she got such a bad rap,’ Weinstein remarked. ‘She knew nothing about what I was doing. I was a master of deception. To punish her company is an act of insanity.’
Weinstein’s representative previously confirmed his approval, noting gratitude that the children receive proper care.
