Sebastian Korda secured his first ATP final appearance in over a year by defeating third-seeded Flavio Cobolli 7-6(7/1), 6-1 in the Delray Beach Open semifinals. He now prepares for an all-American showdown with fifth-seeded Tommy Paul.
Korda’s Strong Serve Propels Him Forward
Korda dominated with his serve, recording 12 aces and avoiding any break points against Cobolli. This performance marks his second trip to the Delray Beach final, following a runner-up finish to Hubert Hurkacz in 2021.
“I think it was a great match,” Korda said. “I served pretty well with few pressure situations, which opened up my returns. I played a solid tie-breaker, then felt the ball better, returned stronger, and applied pressure on him.”
Paul Stages Comeback Win
Tommy Paul rallied from a set down to overcome fourth-seeded fellow American Learner Tien 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. This victory sends Paul to his first final since capturing the Stockholm title in 2024, ending a 0-5 skid in semifinals amid injuries including a ruptured foot ligament and abdominal strain.
“He played amazing tennis in the first set,” Paul noted. “I struggled to match him as he did everything a bit better. I knew I needed to mix things up and disrupt the rhythm, and I executed that well.”
