Prince William engages with young farmers in Swaledale, North Yorkshire, sharing Yorkshire tea and a selection of baked treats during a solo visit.

Delighting Farmers with Desserts

The Prince of Wales, 43, arrives at the family-run Crow Tree Farm to discuss opportunities and challenges in the farming industry. He stops at Reeth’s Dales Bike Centre, a favored spot for cyclists in the Yorkshire Dales, to pick up desserts before the meeting in Richmond.

At the community centre, William distributes the treats, calling the spread ‘exceptional.’ He points out options, noting staff recommendations for the raspberry cheesecake while eyeing a chocolate cake or brownie. Spotting a high-calorie Twix cake, he dubs it a ‘calorie grenade’ that would take three days to burn off in the gym.

‘I said help me out for a bunch of farmers,’ William quips, explaining the handpicked selection from Dales Bike Centre. ‘Whether they got your tastes right or not…’

Dressed in a checked jacket over a jumper and shirt amid cooler UK temperatures, this marks his first official outing since the 15th wedding anniversary with the Princess of Wales on April 29.

Recent Family Celebrations

The visit follows birthdays for Prince Louis, who turns eight on April 23, and Princess Charlotte, who celebrates her 11th on May 2. A new portrait shows Louis grinning against a Cornish coast backdrop, leaning on a vessel’s barrier with arms folded, bearing a strong resemblance to his father.

Charlotte’s photo, released May 2 from the same holiday, captures her in a striped jumper smiling amid flowers and trees. Her features echo William’s, while her long flowing hair recalls her mother. Both portraits, like the family’s anniversary photo taken by photographer Matt Porteus, highlight relaxed family moments.

The anniversary image depicts William and Catherine lounging on grass with their three children sprawled nearby under the sun, captioned ‘Celebrating 15 years of marriage.’

Family Pets and Royal Finances

The photos also feature the family’s dogs. Earlier this month, William and Kate introduce their new puppy, brown cocker spaniel Otto, on his first birthday. Kate shares the image, writing: ‘Welcome to the family, Otto! 1 today.’ Otto is the son of Orla, who joined in 2020 as a gift from Kate’s brother James Middleton.

A recent report highlights Prince William’s income tax contributions, estimated at £5 million to £7 million annually. His primary income stems from the Duchy of Cornwall, valued at £1.1 billion and generating over £20 million yearly. He pays the top 45 percent rate on taxable portions.

In 2023-24, William receives £23.6 million from the Duchy, with about £13.5 million taxable. This follows scrutiny over estate revenues from public bodies like the NHS and schools. King Charles III previously disclosed £5.9 million in tax on Duchy earnings for 2021-2022.
