Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore, aged 25, has died in New Albany, Indiana. Authorities discovered the New Albany resident in his garage with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police Launch Death Investigation

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey issued a statement confirming the incident at 1611 Ekin Avenue. “The New Albany Police Department is conducting a death investigation,” the statement reads. “Rondale Moore (age 25) was found deceased in the garage of the property of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. The New Albany Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.”

The Floyd County Coroner has scheduled an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

From High School Star to NFL Pro

Moore earned the 2017 Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year award at Louisville Trinity High School, emerging as one of the nation’s top recruits despite standing at just 5-foot-7.

At Purdue University, he excelled, securing Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Receiver of the Year honors in 2018. Moore graduated in 2020 with a degree in selling and sales management, maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

The Arizona Cardinals selected Moore in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He later played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2024 before signing a one-year, $2 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Heartfelt Tribute from College Coach

Purdue coach Jeff Brohm released a moving statement: “Rondale Moore was a complete joy to coach. The ultimate competitor that would never back down to any challenge. Rondale has a work ethic that was unmatched by anyone. A great teammate that would come through in any situation. We all loved Rondale and we loved his smile and competitive edge that always wanted to please everyone he came in contact with. We offer all of our thoughts and prayers to Rondale and his family and we love him very much!!!”

The NFL community mourns the sudden loss of the promising talent, with tributes flooding in from fans and peers alike.
